Turkeys
I know that this was done in my senior year of high school 2001. The assignment was to bring in an old family photo and draw it, then paint it. The photo was taken of me at a zoo around 1984- -1986 with a camera that would redefine the phrase "point and shoot". It was a film roll camera, not a polaroid.
Rock Wall at State Fair
I drew this one from a photo taken of me in high school. It was at the state fair and I thought it would be cool to climb the rock wall. That was until I reached the top and looked down. It no longer seemed like a good decision at that point.
Pastel Still Life
This was drawn during or shortly after high school, around 2000 - 2001. I still have those headphones, but not either of the jars.
Around 2006 - 2007, my friend gave me a cat and it went wild in my apartment while I was at work. When it ripped this drawing, that was it. I drove the cat to a deep forest and let it loose. Shortly afterward, a co-worker said that a new stray cat showed up at her place on the same road.
Motley Crue Portrait
Drawn from an album cover or magazine photo when I was in high school. If anyone knows which dude this is, please comment.
Magazine Women # 1, 2 & 3
Layla Coffee #1
Around 2007 I got a pair of rats: Layla and Lillith. Lillith was an evil bitch and Layla was the best rat I've ever had. She would always want to drink coffee with me, so I photographed her with my primitive flip phone. Years later at MCC, I had to interpret a photograph for some type of art class, using different marks in each grid section.
Jeff's look of disgusted exasperation
While at MCC, I worked on a presentation for media class with a guy who wanted to talk about men's rights. I would watch everyone in class and he always seemed disturbed by what was being discussed so foolishly. It being a stupid class, I had lots of time to draw in my sketchbook.
Denny's Girl
I was sitting in a Denny's near Buffalo, NY with my friend, Mike. We were getting lots of coffee and I was drawing because neither of us had anything better to do. This was either pencil or conte and crayon.
Fatty Boom Boom #5
This was the main model for figure drawing class. That meant she came in 2 or 3 times. The prof said to put her poses across the page and I watercolored it later.
Dave #4
My friend, Dave from high school. I drew him once in marker, flipped the page and traced it in different colors. That was almost 20 years ago. I photoshopped the 2 images together today.
Abstract City
I don't really know what I was doing with this, but I think it looks cool. Probably watercolor and ink. It was in an old sketchbook.
Watercolor Self Portrait 3
Another self portrait from high school. I had just gotten a large mirror and decided that I was always there to draw myself.
Marionette
I made a robot marionette out of paper mache. It was really difficult and came out fine, but just lays there in my room because I'm too busy making other stuff to use it.
Grave Toon
I drew this in 2007 or so. It is based on the same location as Cemetery Excitement. I'm not entirely sure about the materials.
Blues Brothers diner scene
I drew the Blues Brothers for my dad's Christmas present last year. It's one of his favorite movies and he's almost blind, so I didn't have to do a very good job. I think they're alright.

Snowy Church
I took the original photo with a flip phone around 2007. There was such a blizzard going on that I got out of work early and was walking to the store. The second image was edited with saturation and contrast.
Inside Out Woman #2
Figure drawing 2018. Matching skeleton with projected model image again. I think this one looks better than the other.
Inside Out Woman #1
Figure drawing class 2018. The prof said to match the skeleton model with the projected image. My foreshortening on the leg is not the best, but I think it looks alright otherwise.
Anonymous Girl Portrait
This was done for figure drawing class in 2018. The professor projected a photo on a screen. I was amazed at how little drawing from life happened in that class. I was under the impression that figure drawing would include live models, but that only happened 3 times in the whole semester.
Proto-Photo
This was done in 7th grade technology class, so that would be around 1996. I placed items on photo paper in a darkroom and shined a light on it. I kept it because I think it's cool and abstract.
Cindy
A girl from high school art class. We were friends and I would spend most art classes talking with her or one other girl. I was quite the casanova ladies' man in high school.
Self Portrait in Watercolor
Another high school piece. I did this at home and remember trying to break all of the watercolor rules that I was being taught in school.
Still Life Watercolor
I painted these in high school, so they would be from 1998 - 2000. I pulled a bunch of old stuff for the library display.
Grasshopper Draft
This was for a drawing class in 2016 or 2017. The professor said to use contrasting colors and I busted this bad boy out in about half an hour. I had to work fast in that class because the professor was the type who would draw on students' work with a #2 pencil (hard to erase) so I had to finish everything before she came around to wreck it. Then I would tell her that it was easier and faster to start over than correct anything. One of my projects ended up being done on both sides of the paper.
Marilyn Manson Drawing
I drew this in 9th grade, which would make it 1997 or 1998. I tried to get it into the school art show with the rest of my portfolio in 2001, but it was rejected because of who I drew. It was either pencil or charcoal on paper.
2.5D Electronic Hospital
Yes, those are real vital sign monitor contacts that were attached to me and the gauze from my IV. I told them I don't do needle drugs, but they would not listen. CDs, 3.5" floppy disks, a guitar cable, the spiral from a notebook, the guts of a guitar effect pedal, RCA jacks...
Macro Grasshopper
This is a mixed media painting/drawing from a photograph I found online. The wing texture was done with tempera and a sponge. I was getting ready for my display at the local library and realized that I needed more representational images. This includes so many different types of paint and drawing materials that it would be pointless to list them all.
Cut Paper Collage
These were made in the way that children fold and cut snowflakes. I used some abstract papers with paint splatter, wove some together, pasted pieces on top, sprayed some bleach... Anything to make it wild.

Sumi-e brush jar/vase
I had purchased a giant amount of Asian Sumi-e brushes through Ebay and needed an appropriate container for them.
Square Sketchbook
Another coptic binding sketchbook. Going from the outside in, the corners are outlet covers painted in enamel and the buckle is from the same Lip Service straight jacket. The main part of the outside cover paper is construction paper done in suminagashi. The design in the outside centers is photoshopped layers of suminagashi, folded and cut like children cut snowflakes. The inside cover papers are the same, but without the snowflake technique. Filler paper is a whole lot of brown packing paper. I made this because I liked the large sketchbook that I got for class.

Vertical Format Book with Buckle
I planned this as a sketchbook for myself. The covers are made of my primitive form of suminagashi using spray paint and canvas on water. I call this "sue mean a goshy". The inside covers are the same, but paper. Plastic outlet covers cut and painted for corners and a buckle from my old Lip Service straight jacket for closure. The bookmark is made of cheap twines and the filler is brown packing paper, yellow construction paper and expensive white drawing paper. Unfortunately for me, when I got to class the first day, the professor handed out sketchbooks.
