Cthulhu

After reading H. P. Lovecraft's entire catalog of writings, I decided to make a Cthulhu. Most of this monster is true to my mission of pipe cleaners, but I used some floral arrangement materials in the wings. The wing frames are made of thicker copper wire as the dragon's wings were. The actual surface of the wings is something called Floramat moss mat. This is a material that is a plastic/rubber sheet with real moss glued to it. The package came with some little sticky dots that really helped in building the wings, as I could stick one side of the wing to the frame before applying spray adhesive and sandwiching on the other half.

Osseous, the Giant Red Dragon

Rose from Annysia requested that I make a red dragon so I did. It took a very long time and lots of pipe cleaners. When I was at the craft store getting more red I saw some black felt with sparkles and knew that this would be ideal material from which to craft the wings. Inspired by Jim Henson's Creature Workshop and countless power metal album covers, I tried to make a dragon that Rose would be happy with. The hair for his beard, wing tips and tail is cotton twine.
Uploading the pictures took almost as long as building the dragon. Thanks, blogger. Your image upload interface is officially the slowest and glitchiest thing on the internet.
